Backyard Adventures

Not only have we been pulling weeds and spreading mulch but Dad is also taking care of the gopher situation. Gopher hills kept rising, as did Dad's frustration. We probed for their tunnels around the hills and our first attempt was poison pellets. After we finished the last part, we walked back to where we started and there was already a fresh hole. Today we tried EZ set traps. Dad is a thorough person and watched some YouTube videos on it. We set them out and just 2 hours later we already caught one. Dad thinks there are more and predicts we will catch two more by tomorrow. He is so excited. Even though it caused Dad grief, the minute C saw it dead, her compassionate side came out. "Oh but he's so cute!" Dad just walked away silently reassuring himself, "best investment ever".

Tune up

She was sounding chompy. Is that a word? Well  if it is, then it discribed how she was sounding. Mom oiled her and also gave her a new needle. She is sounding better already.

Temple Trip

This is another time most of the crew went to the temple. We normally went every Thursday at 7. We are so spoiled to have the temple so close. (R, Me, Z, and B)

Walking to the Temple

One Sunday, B and I wanted to walk to the temple. It was really nice weather. We had our good friend R come pick us up since it took us two hours to get there, we didn't want to walk back another 2 hours. B and I had fun walking and talking.

Last Halloween

This is a real late post but sometimes I still want to post it because I have pictures and I want to remember it. We went to a dance and had to walk through a haunted hallway to get to the gym. K got her face painted by our next door neighbor. B and I were pirates. We thought we would have kids coming to the apartments asking for candy so we bought a whole bunch of chocolate. (We remember the disappointment when we were kids of getting taffy or a toothbrush so we wanted to give them chocolate) We didn't actually have any kids come so we got to eat it all. Then that night we watched a scary movie.

You've Got Mail

Do you have that one favorite movie that you watch multiple times a month?  Have you ever seen the movie "You've Got Mail"? Oh boy, if you haven't then you'd better see it. I watch it when I sew or clean my room or anytime I want to listen to a movie while doing something. It is one of my all time favorite movies. Tom Hanks stars as Joe Fox, the owner of a Barnes and Nobles like book store chain. Meg Ryan (so pretty and she looks good in just about ANYTHING she wears) plays Kathleen Kelly, a small business owner with a bookstore called the Shop Around the Corner. They write to one another much like online pen-pals. It isn't until the middle of the movie that Joe discovers who he has been writing to. Kathleen doesn't like Joe but doesn't know that the is the person she is writing to. Joe's bookstore chain puts Kathleen out of business. *Spoiler Alert* They end up together. One of the reasons that I love this movie is because they log onto their dial up connection and they talk to one another. They don't just talk (and it could just be Hollywood) they pour their inner feelings and thoughts. One of the first things they talk about is school supplies and "New York in the fall". Joe tells her that if he knew her address he would send her a box of newly sharpened pencils. Whenever they got the ring "You've Got Mail" I felt like I did too. The connection that they have even though they didn't know each other is awesome. Growing up I always wanted a pen-pal. Through dating in college I just realize it's fun to have a best friend. You tell them everything. I wish I could just email or write a letter to someone who doesn't care what I have to say but just listens and in turn I'll listen to the ramblings of their mind. Who the heck cares about school supplies. You wouldn't normally ask someone about their thoughts on it but by watching this movie, I want to be able to write about anything. I guess this is why I have a blog.
Another reason that this movie inspires me is because it makes me want to go read a book. It makes me want to drive to the library and read up on random stuff to gain more knowledge. It's just a real good movie.
