Manti Temple

B and Z and I have made it a goal to go to the Manti Temple at least once a week. Sometimes we will set an appointment for Tuesday and then not really make it there until Friday due to big groups and other things that come up. So we always try to plan it at the beginning of the week in case we have to unexpectedly change. I had hoped we would have a picture with the three of us together in front of the temple by now but we always forget. It'll have to come later. I think the Manti Temple is my favorite now. We've had great times.

Semester Quilt

This is a quilt that I had to start, work on, and finish for my quilt-making class this past semester. I worked on a lot of the quilt when we went to Idaho for Thanksgiving. Grandma let me bring down the sewing machine into the family room so I would still be able to socialize. There are a couple blocks that through doing this project, I know how to do but I will NEVER make again. There are others that I loved doing and I would make a whole quilt out of. We were suppose to give it a name and I named my The Beast. I named it that because of the fact that it was required and it was drug out through a whole semester. I loved the class and I love to sew but I've realized that I like to sew whatever I'd like and I'm not good at sewing on a deadline. I like to do what I like at my own pace. I am happy with the result though. Now I'll have to start on something else.

Apartment Christmas

We really wanted a Christmas in our apartment and since we knew that wouldn't be possible due to winter break we decided to do it before we left. K, B, and I planned a party for our complex, whoever wanted to come. It was super fun. We started putting up Christmas decorations right after Thanksgiving Break. We even got a small Christmas tree, it was fake but it was beautiful. We got presents for each other and our two guy friends R and Z. There was one night during finals week B and I couldn't sleep and it got super late, or should I say early in the morning. B remembered that we had a present coming in the mail for us, the present we got for Z. So we quickly got on her laptop and tracked the package. It said it had been delivered that same day! We were super excited and we didn't want to wait and so we ran outside to get the mail. Sure enough, IT WAS THERE! We immediately went inside and we were so excited that it felt like we were opening our own gift. They were guitar picks because we know how much Z loves his guitar. They had his favorite guitarist on them. We then quickly wrapped them and headed to bed. It was so much fun. When he did open them, he loved them and we were thrilled. We gave R a shirt that said 'MURICA on it. B's mom does vinyl and so we also got to write "Love your pals from Apt. _". It was small enough that he knows it's there but others don't have to see it. Then after we opened up roommate gifts. We had the best time.
We had an extra day where nothing was planned before we went home and so we went to the pool. It's really random but I wanted to write it down because we had so much fun.

To help out a friend

My friend Z at college asked my roommate B and I if we could do an experiment for him as part of a school project. I instantly said yes. Then he explained what we had to do. We had to wake up each morning and without getting our hair done, makeup done, etc. we had to take a picture. Now that wouldn't have been so bad but then he took it a step further and told us we had to put each days picture as our Facebook profile picture. I was a little scared. Day 1, (these aren't in the right order) I was SUPER hesitant to put it online. The challenge was for 7 days straight. After the first two days I was just grateful to be done with each day. I didn't want to forget these pictures. I'm grateful the week is over.

Early Thanksgiving

My roommates (K and B) and I went to the student center where they served us an early Thanksgiving lunch. It was real fun. There was a raffle and I won some laundry soap. Success!

Crazy Morning

This is B and I being crazy. It was pretty funny.

Pre-Camp

This past week my sister and I started our new jobs. We are both working at a girl's camp. She is in the craft shack and I am a counselor. This week was called pre-camp because this week was just staff. They taught us our schedules for each week and we learned how to hook up the zip line and repelling. We also went hiking and there was so much snow and it was really cold. Just a lot of preparation and training. I am even now CPR certified! Woot woo! This coming week we will be getting the girls. They are 12 and 13 years old and each counselor is in charge of 10 girls. I am so excited and yet really nervous. There is only 1 of me and 10 of them.
We got cabin roommates. 2 counselors per cabin with roughly 30 girls in there sleeping. We all have nicknames up there. Mine is Sunny, my sister's is Ric Rac and my roommates’ is Buttercup. So if I keep talking about them, that's who I'm talking about. Back at home they need a dictionary to help translate what we are saying since each bathroom, cabin and staff member have a completely new name. (ex. the 2 bathrooms are called Skunk and Daisy) Mom got really confused when we were saying things like, “Well then Boots was telling Squeaky that the group was meeting at Brownie Rock.”
Buttercup and I had to deal with a ton of moths and a dead mouse that we found in a trap underneath our bed later in the week. At this point I'm already thinking. "Oh for Pete's sake, might as well bring on the misquitoes!" I know it's going to be so much fun though.
It’s also cool because not only is this a job and we get paid for doing it but it’s also a calling that we are set apart for. We have to be up there Sunday nights and we get back Friday’s late afternoon. No cell phone’s aloud and no internet access. All staff members have Walkie-talkies to communicate with each other which are pretty fun.
Here are some pictures.

So close...

This is really killin' me. School is so close to being over. Today was my last day of testing! I am so happy it is over. My cousin graduated yesterday and I was super jealous. I don't understand why we have a "last week of school" because it's always filled with free time, movies, and parties. I'm not saying it's not fun but when you want to graduate, it doesn't help.
My mom and I have been trying to search for a graduation dress and it isn't working. My sister and I went to the mall last weekend and I swear we walked through every store that looked like it could have dresses. Either it doesn't stick to my budget, it doesn't have sleeves, or it's too short. Meh! It's hard. My mom and I might attempt to just make one if we still can't find one soon.

Last Friday Night

No, this doesn't apply to anything related to the Katy Perry song. I'm only saying how awesome my weekend was.
Last week was one of those types of weeks that you wish the weekend would come sooner but because you hoped it would, it doesn't. It's like watching the clock and if you hadn't blinked, you could have swore the hand on the clock went back a few ticks. CRAZY! My grandparents came to visit towards the end of the week which with that said alone, enough has been said. I absolutely love when they come. I remember when my siblings and I were younger my mom would get tired of the questions, "So when will Grandma and Grandpa be here?" and with a follow up question of "What time?" It would be one of the only days we would volunteer and actually enjoy doing chores.
On Friday my sister and her roommate K came. It was an exciting day to bring a friend over because whoever came over had to help out outside pulling out weeds and moving tree branches. I don't think they will be coming back anytime soon. :) No, but we had fun though.
Saturday felt a lot like Friday since we were working outside for most of it. The yard looks very bare with the lack of trees and bushes. Once we were done, we cleaned up and took everyone out to Red Robin to celebrate. We came home and watched Despicable Me 2. My mom had to buy it because she loves the minions. I get a laugh out of her every time I turn on the soundtrack with them singing.
Sunday night we had family over and celebrated both my Dad and my Grandma's birthday. We ate pulled pork sandwiches and played the thimble game. We played another fun game, you place quotes underneath the plates everyone will use and somehow they have to use that quote during dinner. If someone recognizes what they think is a quote they yell Happy Birthday! Some of them were pretty funny to hear how people tried to sneak it in. Mine was, "It's nice to be nice to the nice." My Grandma got the quote, "I'll snap you like a chicken". It was hilarious.
It was such a great weekend.

Fun New News

So a couple of months ago my parents and I were talking about places to work that I could apply for and work for over the summer. I decided to rule out any fast food places since I have absolutely no interest in working with food. After awhile, my Mom suggested a girl's camp. It clicked in my mind and suddenly I wondered why we hadn't thought of it before. So I got on the ball and found application deadlines and all the extra to-do's and I sent them off. I had to have a bishop's endorsement (which sort of scared me since we are new to the ward) and three letters of recommendation. It was sent off and a couple of weeks later I heard back from them with an interview date!
The interview day came and it was a little scary since there were a board of members who were the interviewers, about 7 or 8 of them. The interview went really well. They said they would respond back in 3 weeks. In three weeks I got a letter from them informing me that they wanted me to be part of the staff. I read that paper and it felt like I was reading mission papers! I was so excited. My older sister had also applied for a camp job and she was accepted as well. I called her and we squealed. Boy, we are excited!
This job lasts 10 weeks long in the summer and I'll be in charge of a new group of Beehive aged girls every week! I'm so happy that my sister is coming with me. Now we get to think of a camp counselor name...this is a girls camp but I don't want it to be too cheesy.....ex. Sugar, Pixie, Buttercup.
