Do you have that one favorite movie that you watch multiple times a month? Have you ever seen the movie "You've Got Mail"? Oh boy, if you haven't then you'd better see it. I watch it when I sew or clean my room or anytime I want to listen to a movie while doing something. It is one of my all time favorite movies. Tom Hanks stars as Joe Fox, the owner of a Barnes and Nobles like book store chain. Meg Ryan (so pretty and she looks good in just about ANYTHING she wears) plays Kathleen Kelly, a small business owner with a bookstore called the Shop Around the Corner. They write to one another much like online pen-pals. It isn't until the middle of the movie that Joe discovers who he has been writing to. Kathleen doesn't like Joe but doesn't know that the is the person she is writing to. Joe's bookstore chain puts Kathleen out of business. *Spoiler Alert* They end up together. One of the reasons that I love this movie is because they log onto their dial up connection and they talk to one another. They don't just talk (and it could just be Hollywood) they pour their inner feelings and thoughts. One of the first things they talk about is school supplies and "New York in the fall". Joe tells her that if he knew her address he would send her a box of newly sharpened pencils. Whenever they got the ring "You've Got Mail" I felt like I did too. The connection that they have even though they didn't know each other is awesome. Growing up I always wanted a pen-pal. Through dating in college I just realize it's fun to have a best friend. You tell them everything. I wish I could just email or write a letter to someone who doesn't care what I have to say but just listens and in turn I'll listen to the ramblings of their mind. Who the heck cares about school supplies. You wouldn't normally ask someone about their thoughts on it but by watching this movie, I want to be able to write about anything. I guess this is why I have a blog.
Another reason that this movie inspires me is because it makes me want to go read a book. It makes me want to drive to the library and read up on random stuff to gain more knowledge. It's just a real good movie.
